Welcome to Pre-Algebra

Pre-Algebra, also known as 7th Grade Pre-AP Math, is an honors math course for 7th grade students and is based on the GISD 8th grade math curriculum.  This means that you will be completing 8th grade math coursework, and it also means that you will take the 8th grade STAAR test in the Spring.  In essence, students working in Pre-Algebra will be skipping 7th grade math.  Students who successfully complete this course will advance to Algebra I in the 8th grade.

The requirements for advancement to Algebra I include: (1) successfully passing Pre-Algebra, and (2) successfully passing the STAAR Math Test.  Those students who do not successfully meet these requirements will placed in an 8th grade math class in the next academic year.
